financial markets and securities

Our services in the field of financial markets and securities focus on the markets in which securities are traded, which include stocks and bonds. The presence of the capital market is of great importance for promoting economic growth, as it allows providing multiple options for financing businesses and companies through various financial means. In addition, these markets give individuals and companies the opportunity to explore investment opportunities in various fields, enabling them to achieve tangible returns for their money.

The importance of capital markets is that they are considered a financial means that moves money from savers to borrowers, which contributes to stimulating the economy. The Securities and Commodities Authority in the Emirates is an independent body that guarantees integrity and transparency in the financial markets.

The Abu Dhabi Securities Market and the Dubai Financial Market operate under this authority, as both markets provide efficient and safe trading platforms that contribute to enhancing interaction between investors and companies.

Securities and Commodities Authority

The UAE established the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) in 2000 to achieve the following objectives:

  • Providing the opportunity to invest savings and funds in securities and commodities to serve the interest of the national economy.

It ensures the integrity and accuracy of transactions, and ensures the interaction of supply and demand factors, with the aim of determining prices and protecting investors by establishing the foundations of sound and fair dealing between various investors.

• Developing investment awareness by conducting studies and providing recommendations

• Ensuring ensuring financial and economic stability.

Two main stock markets operate under the scope of the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA):

  • Abu Dhabi Securities Market

• Dubai Financial Market, both of which are linked to the UAE Stock Exchange. The financial markets in the UAE mainly deal with equity shares, securities, bonds, futures shares, investment funds, commodities, currencies, metals, stones, derivatives, and Islamic and sukuk.

Financial markets

Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX)

The Abu Dhabi Securities Market was established in 2000 in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, with the aim of providing the opportunity to invest savings and funds in securities, developing investment awareness, directing savings to productive sectors, and contributing to achieving financial and economic stability. The market deals in mutual funds, common stocks, and bonds

Dubai Financial Market(DMF)

The Dubai Financial Market is a public joint stock company established in 2000. It is considered the first financial market to offer its shares for public subscription in the Middle East, and it is also the first financial market in the world compatible with Islamic Sharia and its provisions. The stock exchange deals in securities issued by public joint-stock companies, bonds, Islamic sukuks and mutual funds.

Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC)

The Dubai Financial Center was established with the aim of strengthening Dubai's position as a leading global financial center and developing the emirate's economy. The Dubai Financial Center consists of more than 800 companies, including 18 of the 25 largest global banks, asset management companies, insurance companies, and financial and legal consulting companies.

Borrowing instruments

The capital markets in Dubai have witnessed a positive growth in Sukuk listings, providing wider investment options for local, regional and international investors, in light of the increasing global growth in the Sukuk and bonds market.

Sukuks (Islamic bonds)

Bonds, including sukuk, are bonds that are formulated to comply with Islamic Sharia principles, but unlike traditional bonds, they do not include the payment of interest. Sukuk depend on collecting money from their owners and investing it in appropriate financing contracts and investment contracts. However, instead of paying money directly to those requesting financing in exchange for repayment in the future, transactions are carried out on assets, beneficial rights, and financial rights. The Dubai Financial Market and Nasdaq Dubai provide a unified platform for listing and trading a range of sukuks, including sukuks listed by issuers, government agencies and government-linked companies.

Bonds

The Dubai Financial Market and Nasdaq Dubai offer a variety of bonds, including public and private joint stock company bonds, issued by government agencies and institutions. Bonds listed on the Dubai Financial Market and Nasdaq Dubai are tradable on the two stock exchanges. The Dubai Financial Market is committed to providing investors with various sources of information and tools to facilitate making the right investment decisions.

Investing in the Dubai Financial Market and Nasdaq Dubai is also available to holders of various nationalities, regardless of country of residence. Any individual or office can apply to obtain an investor number from the Clearing, Settlement and Depository Sector in the Dubai Financial Market, in order to trade securities listed on the two stock exchanges.

Speculation in the stock market

It is “the risk of buying and selling based on the expectation of price fluctuations in order to obtain the price difference.” If this prediction is wrong, this expectation may lead to paying the price differences instead of receiving them. It is neither a real sale nor a real purchase. The whole issue is limited to receiving or paying the price differences, while buying and selling in Sharia speculation is a real sale of specific commodities, according to Sharia controls. Jurists have agreed to define the Mudaraba contract as “a contract for the company between two or more people, one of whom provides money and the other workers, and the profit between them is according to the agreement and condition.” Brokerage companies provide investors with the ability to buy or sell securities listed on the Dubai Financial Market and the Nasdaq Dubai Stock Exchange, as well as providing data.
